Reasons to love microneedling
Incredibly effective on both the face and body, Microneedling is perfect for all skin types.
The treatment makes skin look and feel more elastic and smooth, and it can minimise fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation, rosacea, acne or scarring on your face – and any pigmentation, stretch marks and certain scars on your body.
How Microneedling works
This treatment uses the best-in-class device - SkinPen – which uses incredibly small, shallow needles to create tiny holes in the skin between 0.25 and 2 millimetres deep.
It’s completely safe and very effective: those little holes stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin, which help your skin look and feel tighter, smoother and younger.
This device is also brilliant for addressing stretch marks and scarring on the body.
To really enhance the results, we recommend pairing this treatment with our LED Light Therapy to enhance the post-treatment healing and rejuvenation process.

Preparing for your treatment
You should avoid any active ingredients such as retinoids, AHA's BHA's for 1 week before your appointment, and any chemical peels for at least 2 weeks before visiting us – this treatment involves small punctures to the surface of the skin, so we need it to be as free from active ingredients as possible to ensure the safest and most-effective results.
If your skin is impaired or irritated, we’d recommend trying our Yellow LED light therapy instead – the puncturing of the skin in this treatment could otherwise further irritate your skin.
If you have acne, we would also recommend combining your microneedling treatment with a skin peel and/or our LED light therapy – talk to one of our therapists about a skin plan that works for you.
If you’re breastfeeding or pregnant, we unfortunately won’t be able to perform this treatment – but talk to our therapists, and they’ll help you arrange a later date when you can join us, as well as suggesting other treatments for you.
Fake tan needs to be avoided for at least 1 week before your appointment. If there is any in the treatment area we will have to arrange a later date to do this.
Certain skin tones will require prep before this treatment - we will discuss this with you during a complimentary consultation.
For two weeks before the appointment avoid having any anti wrinkle injections performed. For dermal fillers, including profhilo you should wait a minimum of 4 weeks after receiveing that treatment before doing microneedling.
Only use the products provided by your therapist for 48 hours post-treatment. In lieu of cleansing your skin, you may rinse with cool water. Do not put cosmetics of any kind on the treated area for the first 48 hours.
Please avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area/s for up to 48 hours. You may return to sunscreen use 24 hours following the procedure. Continue to minimise sun exposure for 72 hours post-procedure.
For at least two weeks after your treatment you should also avoid laser hair removal or cosmetic injectables to the treated area/s.
For up to 5 days after your treatment, you should avoid skin products with active ingredients or anything exfoliating. A gentle cleanser and moisturiser is fine after 48 hours have passed.
Some redness and small pinprick-sized blood spotting is normal after Microneedling.
For the first 72 hours after treatment, please avoid any exercise or excessive perspiration, as excess blood flow and swear can cause discomfort and irritation to compromised skin.

You may experience some discomfort, but we have numbing cream available to ease the pain. And remember: our therapists are trained experts, so you’re in good hands.
There is a bit of downtime after this treatment - for up to a week, you may experience redness / pinprick sized blood spotting. You will then start to see visible results. At around 3 weeks, you'll see really noticeable results – and after around 3 months, you'll see the full benefit. Patience, patience, patience…
Treatments take 40-60 minutes depending on the area/s being treated. If you’d like numbing cream applied first, you should allow for an additional 20 minutes.
