Reasons to love microneedling

Incredibly effective on both the face and body, Microneedling is perfect for all skin types.

The treatment makes skin look and feel more elastic and smooth, and it can minimise fine lines, enlarged pores, pigmentation, rosacea, acne or scarring on your face – and any pigmentation, stretch marks and certain scars on your body.

How Microneedling works

This treatment uses a very clever device – a German-made medical technology, Exceed – which uses incredibly small, shallow needles to create tiny holes in the skin between 0.25 and 2 millimetres deep.

It’s completely safe and very effective: those little holes stimulate the natural production of collagen and elastin, which help your skin look and feel tighter, smoother and younger.

To really enhance the results, we recommend pairing this treatment with our LED Light Therapy to enhance the post-treatment healing and rejuvenation process.

Preparing for your treatment

You should avoid retinal or active ingredients for 1 week before your appointment, and avoid wrinkle relaxers, dermal fillers or peels for at least 2 weeks before visiting us – this treatment involves small punctures to the surface of the skin, so we need it to be as free from active ingredients as possible to ensure the safest and most-effective results.

If your skin is impaired or irritated, we’d recommend trying our Yellow LED light therapy instead – the puncturing of the skin in this treatment could otherwise further irritate your skin.

If you have acne, we would also recommend combining your microneedling treatment with a skin peel and/or our LED light therapy – talk to one of our therapists about a skin plan that works for you.

If you’re breastfeeding or pregnant, we unfortunately won’t be able to perform this treatment – but talk to our therapists, and they’ll help you arrange a later date when you can join us, as well as suggesting other treatments for you.

Fake tan needs to be avoided for at least 1 week before your appointment. If there is any in the treatment area we will have to arrange a later date to do this.

After-treatment care

For the first 24 hours after treatment, please avoid any exercise, and for the first 48 hours do not put cosmetics of any kind on the treated area. You should also avoid direct sun exposure to the treated area/s for up to 48 hours.

For up to 5 days after your treatment, you should avoid skin products with active ingredients or anything exfoliating. A gentle cleanser and moisturiser is fine, though.

For at least a week after your treatment you should also avoid laser hair removal or cosmetic injectables to the treated area/s.

Some redness and small pinprick-sized blood spotting is normal after Microneedling – to treat, apply a cool compress to the area or a soothing gel, like our After-Laser Heal.

Ask us anything about microneedling

Some people describe it as a rubbing sensation, which feels like a really deep, abrasive exfoliation. If that sounds uncomfortable, we can apply a little numbing cream before the treatment. And remember: our therapists are trained experts, so you’re in good hands.

You'll see brighter skin right away, and the results will get even more visible over the next few days. At around 3 weeks, you'll see really noticeable results – and after around 3 months, you'll see the full benefit. Patience, patience, patience…

Treatments take 40-60 minutes depending on the area/s being treated. If you’d like numbing cream applied first, you should allow for an additional 20 minutes.
